Synopsis:
Jonathan Kent receives several family heirlooms when his relative Silas Kent dies. Among the items is a coin with Superboy’s image from the year 1680. Puzzled by the strange coin, Superboy travels into the past to discover its origin.
Superboy locates Jonas and Maria Kent, Jonathan’s ancestor, and disguises himself as an orphan vagabond. He joins their family and helps with the family business of running a traveling puppet show. He designs a Superboy puppet that Jonas names Sorcery Boy, then advertises the show in his Superboy costume.
When a highwayman named Bald-Pate robs them, Superboy investigates him. However, Bald-Pate witnesses Superboy using his powers and brands the boy a sorcerer. Superboy is held for execution and cannot escape, because they will hurt the Kents if he does. Bald-Pate fashions silver bullets with Superboy’s image on them, which is the believed method for killing sorcerers. Then Superboy is shot with the bullets. He flies off, but the bullets hit his chest and flatten into the shape of coins. Then the coins are passed down through the generations.
