Synopsis:
While Superman is on a space mission, Jimmy Olsen covers a story for the Planet about a boy scientist, Tom Baker. Baker has developed a system to give himself super powers. The device explodes in the lab, but it appears to have worked as Tom is now invulnerable.
Tom begins performing super deeds, but Jimmy is jealous from the attention the boy hero receives. When Superman returns, he and Tom team up to make a rescue. Jimmy is happy to learn later, though, that Tom’s powers have disappeared.
Superman then escorts Tom to the Fortress of Solitude. Tom never lost his powers, he was a Kandorian. Superman has invented an exchange ray that can enlarge one person and shrink another. Supergirl was visiting Kandor, so Tom, alias Dik-Rey, filled in while Superman was away.
