Synopsis:
When the early warning systems in the Fortress of Solitude tell Superman of a danger in space, Superman experiments with a Red Kryptonite antidote. He does so because the menace is contained within a cluster of Red Kryptonite meteor. The antidote is used with a piece of Red K which has already affected Superman, causing him to split into a non-super powered Clark and an evil Superman. The antidote causes the Red Kryptonite to affect Superman again, but this time the change appears permanent.

Superman then returns to America, demanding that the U.N. declare him King of Earth. When they initially refuse his request, Superman demonstrates his power as a threat. The U.N. conceeds. Superman is then elected King of Earth. Clark is disgusted by Superman's tyrannical actions and forms an underground movement against the Man of Steel.
