Synopsis:
While tracking down David Gregor, a criminal known as the Automator, Batman is killed. When the villain escapes, Robin vows to catch him. After the funeral, Robin takes a new identity as Rick Danner, a student at Keyer University. He studies hard and continues his career as Robin into adulthood.
Ten years later, a crook wearing golden gloves comes to Robin's attention. He believes that the crook is working with the Automator. When Superman tangles with Golden Gloves he is permanently blinded and taken captive.
Robin follows the crook to his hideout and learns that his suspicions were correct. Golden Gloves is an agent of the Automator. However, he is surprised to learn that the man wearing the gloves is a brainwashed Batman. Instead of dying, he was teleported and taken captive. Robin frees Batman from Gregor's control, apprehends the villain, then begins the process of undoing the years of brainwashing that his mentor has suffered.
