Johnny Peril is a continuation of the "Just a Story" feature.

Johnny Peril exists on Earth-1 as revealed in Unexpected #218 in which he meets Madame Xanadu, Abel, and the Three Witches.

Synopsis:
Reporter Johnny Peril drives to the Murzon home during a rainstorm. On the way, he picks up a kid that tells him who killed football star Philip Murton. The kid then disappears at a gas station.

Johnny decides to follow up on the kid's tip by talking to the crooks involved. He realizes that the kid was right, then finds evidence against the crooks.

After handing evidence over to the police, Johnny confronts the killer Nick Scarlet. The killer's men attack Johnny, but the police arrive in time to prevent his murder. Scarlet is arrested.

Johnny returns to the Murzon house and sees the same kid. The boy disappears again after talking to Johnny. Peril then speaks to Philip's mother and learns that the kid by the side of the road looks identical to a ten year old picture of Philip.
