Synopsis:
Wilbur Wolfingham becomes a publicity agent and offers his services to three clients. Mayor Bragg wants to become governor, Caleb McCaleb wants his business to make more money, and Mabel Murgatroyd seeks to climb the social ladder. Wolfingham takes their money, then hires actors to impersonate his clients. The actors cause great scandals and damage the reputations of the real individuals.
When Superman learns that Wolfingham is involved, he begins an investigation. The con artist has forced his clients to pay him an additional ten thousand dollars to clear their names. Wolfingham promises to have the actors reveal their hoaxes, thus restoring the reputations of his clients. In truth, he plans to leave town with the money. However, Superman catches him. The Man of Steel forces Wolfingham to reveal the hoaxes after all and give the money to charity. The clients also learn that they should be themselves and not use false publicity to be something they are not.
