  • Gnaxos (a robot being created by the Weaponers; destroyed in this story; no further appearances)

Synopsis:
The Weaponers of Qward have designed a robot that can defeat Green Lantern. The robot, Gnaxos, plans an attack to elminate it’s enemy.

At the Ferris hangar, Hal Jordan and Pieface work on an aircraft. Hal reveals that his power ring detects a peculiar form of energy. Hal switches to Green Lantern and decides to have a look around. Suddenly a red missile strikes and bathes Pieface in a yellow radiation field. GL’s ring has no effect on the missile so he flys away before it can catch him. The missile tracks him, but Green Lantern manages to cause it to crash into an empty barn. He returns to aid Pieface and discovers the radiation is killing him.

Green Lantern examines the missile and discovers it was really yellow, just disguised as red by some lights. He realizes the missile must have come from Qward. GL flys through the barrier that seperates his world from the anti-matter universe, and confronts the leader of the Weaponers, Kiman.

A deal is struck for the life of Pieface. Green Lantern must defeat Gnaxos in an arena style combat. As the battle between Hal and the yellow colored robot begins, the robot whispers to GL that he is a friend. They mock combat which gives the robot time to give Green Lantern the cure for Pieface’s ailment. Then the robot gives GL an opportunity to escape.

Being noble, Green Lantern attempts to bring the robot back with him, but the Weaponers manage to destroy it first. GL overwhelms the rest of his attackers and heads home to save Pieface. The device works, and restores his friend to normal.
