Synopsis:
Carol Ferris thinks about marrying Green Lantern. She recalls an event in the park in which he rescues a drowning man during a date. She is now waiting for GL to call her after his appearance in a charity parade.

While flying down the street in the parade, Hal recalls how he volunteered to be in it. A few days earlier the Coast City Bank was robbed my a small time criminal named Biffy. He was apprehended by Green Lantern, and Biffy revealed that he was being controlled like a puppet. Several other robberies were committed recently in similar fashion. Green Lantern hopes to lure the Puppet-Master into striking at him in the parade.

There is a huge clown puppet which is part of the parade. It shoots it’s gun at GL, but he manages to stop it. The puppet is controlled by a crane, but when Green Lantern arrives he discovers the operator is unconscious.

Elsewhere the Puppet-Master schemes to get rid of Green Lantern. He has added a new Q-circuit to his hypno-ray which is responsible for the crimes. He zeroes in on GL, who is attending a club with Carol.

Green Lantern is snagged by the beam. He allows himself to be dragged away from the club by the ray. When he arrives at the source of the beam, he breaks free. He had only been faking his submission to the beam. Puppet-Master attempts to shoot GL, but is stopped. Green Lantern uses several cords to tie up the villain and march him to the police like a marionette. Afterwards he returns to the Ferris Company offices as Hal Jordan.
