Synopsis:
Doctor Fate battles Typhon, a Lord of Chaos. He is called away during the battle by the Lords of Order who want him to give up the fight. After chaos takes over, everyone will die, and a new world of perfect order can exist. Fate and Nabu, the Lord of Order who powers him, do not want this. However, the body of Kent Nelson is old and dying, so Nabu seeks out a new host.
Eric Strauss, a ten-year old boy, is chosen to be the new host. Nabu takes Eric to the tower in Salem and ages him into an adult. He then renews the battle with Typhon. However, Eric's mind battles Nabu for control of Doctor Fate, allowing Typhon to triumph. Nabu is forced to retreat back into Kent Nelson. Eric is confused and alone, until Typhon's servant Dr. Stoner finds him and brings him to Arkham Asylum.
