Synopsis:
While perfoming her stage show Zatanna's right arm disappears. Her magic malfunctions, causing the audience to flee in a panic. When she returns to her dressing room, she finds her friend Adam is missing his head. Wotan, who is trapped in limbo, is behind the magical chaos. He plans to use Zatanna, who is a homo magi, that will allow him to return to Earth.
Weeks later, Zatanna turns to Madame Xanadu for help. She explains that her missing arm returned, but it no longer felt natural. Her other limbs have also begun to disappear and reappear with the same feeling. Xanadu offers her help and that of the Spectre.
While Jim Corrigan tracks down a lead on Earth to the location of Zatanna's missing limbs which have been taken by the demons Rath and Ghast, the Spectre travels into the netherworld in search of Zatara, Zatanna's dead father. The Phantom Stranger explains that Zatara's spirit never reached the afterlife and was intercepted. When Corrigan finally locates Zatanna's limbs, Wotan manifests and Zatanna's torso disappears.
