Comments:
Lar Gand will later become known as Valor. Previously he was known as Mon-El. His appearance and back story beginning in this story reflect the revisions to Post-Crisis DC continuity which were introduced in Legion of Super-Heroes #6.

Synopsis:
Vril Dox recruits Lar Gand, a Daxamite, to join the team. He tests Gand's powers and his weakness to lead. Dox offers Gand a cure.

Elsewhere Lobo continues his infiltration of Dagon-Ra's gang of space pirates. He discovers that Lady Quark and Captain Comet are captives.
