History:
Terry Sloane was already famous at the age of ten as a child genius. He graduated from high school at the age of eleven and completed his college studies when he was twelve. He next became an award-winning amateur athlete. Finally, he became a leader in business and made himself a fortune.

But the multitalented Sloane believed that success had come to him too easily. Feeling that life offered him no more challenges, Sloane sank into a deep depression.

While driving his car, Sloane was about to committ suicide when he saw a young woman, Wanda Wilson, jump from a bridge. Sloane rescued her and learned she was in despair because her younger brother, Billy, had become a criminal. Billy and his friends worked for a gangster they idolized called Big Shot.

Sloane disguised himself with a mask and costume and, before the boys’ eyes, fought off Big Shot’s men and drove the cowardly Big Shot out of town. The boys now had a new hero, and Billy named the disguised Sloane "Mister Terrific."

Having found the challenge he sought, Sloane continued to fight crime as Mister Terrific, Defender of Fair Play. He became a member of the All-Star Squadron and joined the Justice Society of America for one case in the 1940s. He rejoined the JSA when it was revived years ago.

Eventually Sloane retired as a super-hero and became an English literature teacher at Gateway University. There he discovered his old enemy, Roger Romaine, the Spirit King, stealing a device from a campus laboratory. Sloane resumed his identity as Mister Terrific to track the Spirit King down. However, the Spirit King strangled Mister Terrific, killing him. The Justice Society of America pledged to bring the Spirit King to justice, but it has not yet been revealed whether they succeeded.

Powers:
Mister Terrific, the "Man of a Thousand Talents," had no actual super-powers. However, he was a master of virtually every athletic skill and means of hand-to-hand combat. Mister Terrific was a genius and was an expert in numerous areas of science and academics.
