Aviax
Aviax

Name: Aviax
Universe: Post-Crisis
Alter Ego: Orintho
Group Affiliation: Wanderers
First Appearance: Wanderers #1

History:
When the Wanderer known as Orintho was found dead and cloned by Clonus, he like his teammates, was given a dramatic boost in his super-powers. In his former life, Orintho could assume the shape of any species of existing bird life with which he was familiar. Now, as Aviax, he possesses the ability to transform himself into any creature of flight his imagination can conceive. This extrapolation of his previous powers and its limitless potential has made Aviax the most enthusiastic Wanderer. Taking any available excuse to soar, he frequently goes off on his own on the pretense of scouting. Thus far, Aviax has transformed himself into swift flyers, fierce aerial predators, and even a fearsome, dragonlike, bat-winged creature.

However, Aviax pays a price for his amazing abilities: shape-shifting into countless airborne forms necessitates a skeletal structure that is extremely porous and fragile. Aviax must constantly take care not to put undue stress on his bones, particularly on a planet with heavy gravity.

Aviax is the Wanderers' pilot and navigator and can usually be found at their ship's control panel. Whether this attraction to simulated flying is connected to his passion for true flight is unknown. Aviax occasionally affects a somewhat condescending, philosophical air, which puts him at odds with the gruff, practical Dartalon.
