History:
Famed undersea explorer, Tom Curry, discovered an ancient city in the depths where no diver had ever penetrated. He believed it to be the lost kingdom of Atlantis. Making himself a water-tight home inside one of the palaces, Curry studied the records and teachings of the ancient people. He soon began to teach these lessons and skills to his young son, whose mother had died when he was a babe.

Curry’s son, who would later be known as Aquaman, was taught to live underwater and use the power of the sea to make him amazingly strong and swift. He also learned how to communicate with intelligent forms of sea life.

After his father’s death, Aquaman carried on the studies of his father, but he eventually rejoined the surface world. While he rarely came ashore for long, he had many adventures at sea including several episodes in which he encountered Nazi ships and submarines during World War II. He also joined the wartime All-Star Squadron, but rarely attended their meetings or participated in their exploits.

Aquaman continued to patrol the seas after World War II, but his present whereabouts are unknown.

Powers:
Aquaman’s body is more dense than that of a normal human, enabling him to survive the awesome pressures of the deep, as well as extreme changes in temperature. This density gives him superior strength on land, and his is also skilled in hand-to-hand combat.

Underwater, his swimming speed is in excess of 100 mph.

Aquaman also possesses a unique ability to communicate with intelligent sea life, such as porpoises.
