History:
For the past three-quarters of a century, mankind has been filling the air with electronic signals – radio waves, television waves, microwaves, and a thousand others – while simultaneously constructing more and more electronic equipment, from computers to space-probes and everything in between.

Finally, unknown to humanity, they succeeded in overloading Earth's airwaves. The cacophony of signals could no longer remain separate so they merged, forming one coherent, invincible mind, a mind that lived in every electronic device on the planet. This unique new form of life called itself the Construct.

Using its awesome mental powers, the Construct built a powerful metal body to house its infinite mind, then similarly assembled an army of robot enforcers to help it dominate the world. The Construct called these battle-bred robots its cannons, and through them the Construct challenged the membership of the Justice League of America, the super-heroic organization it saw as the greatest obstacle to its plans of conquest.

Despite its ability to inhabit and control any electronic device, the Construct was indeed prevented from bringing into being its concept of a world of perfect automation by the Justice League, and the Construct's consciousness was dispersed once more into the atmosphere.

Soon after, the electronic consciousness coalesced into Construct-II. Having no true memory of its previous incarnation, Construct-II nonetheless attempted to destroy the Justice League, first from within by possessing the body of Wonder Woman, and then by taking control of the unwitting criminal membership of the Injustice Gang of the World. Once again, the Construct was defeated, and its consciousness scattered into the air.

A few months later the electronic consciousness coalesced again as Construct-III, this time attacking the Justice League in the body of a recently resurrected Red Tornado. Its mind muddled, with no true memory of having fought the JLA before, Construct-III was soon defeated, but this time when its consciousness was dispersed into the ether, Wonder Woman set up a device that transmitted a continuous, random wave pattern into the air so that no coherent mind could ever coalesce that way again, effectively putting an end to the Construct forever.

Powers:
An electronic mind capable of possessing and controlling any electronic machine on Earth, the Construct had no real need of any particular skill at hand-to-hand combat, preferring to utilize its robot cannons to do its dirty work. Where the cannons failed, the Construct would take control of living beings by dominating the electronic impulses of their minds. Thus controlled, these people would carry out the Construct's will unhesitantly.

The Construct's sole weakness was an inability to hold its electronic consciousness together in the face of overwhelming stress or the opposing will power of a consciousness equal to or greater than its own.

Capable of mentally creating new metallic bodies of itself at will when a previous body was destroyed, the Construct was one of the most persistent foes the Justice League ever faced.
