Synopsis:
The Sandman discovers a woman resembling Dian Belmont breaking into the safe of Malay Mac. He believes that she is Dian even though the woman does not recognize him. He lets her go, then opens the safe where a poison gas trap is set off.
The Sandman drives to Belmont house where the real Dian is sleeping. She agrees to come with him to find her double. The Sandman questions Malay Mac and learns that Tusker McGinn was the only one who knew about the safe.
The Sandman tracks down McGinn and Dian's double, but he is knocked out. The real Dian is then kidnapped. When the Sandman regains consciousness he tracks her down, apprehending McGinn, the double, and Malay Mac in the process.
The girl was caught in between the men who were bitter enemies. Mac was afraid that she would give McGinn a spy in the D.A.'s office by replacing Dian, so he set the trap in his safe to kill her. McGinn then thought the girl betrayed him when she returned without the payroll from the safe.
