This story is continued from Animal Man #17 and continues in Animal Man #19.

Synopsis:
Buddy has returned home to find James Highwater in his house. Part of Highwater's body disappeared briefly, but has now returned. This reminds Buddy of his trip to Africa. Highwater also finds that a photo he brought has been mysteriously changed into a map. Buddy agrees to go with Highwater to follow the map.

The map leads to an indian reservation in Arizona. Atop a mesa, Buddy and Highwater find peyote and take it. They both experience vivid hallucinations in which Buddy receives a warning about a second Crisis.
