Gothic Volume Three
This story is continued from Legends of the Dark Knight #7 and continues in Legends of the Dark Knight #9.
Synopsis:
Following Batman's encounter with Mr. Whisper, Bruce Wayne reaches out to his former school and gains possession of recordings of poetry readings by the former headmaster Winchester. Using the recordings, Batman determines that Winchester was Austrian. He also discovers the voices of his parents on the tape. His father mentions Lake Dess.
Batman heads to Austria to investigate the drowned monastery there. He meets a monk who tells the story of a corrupted monk named Manfred who sold his soul to the devil for 300 years of life. Though the other evil monks perished in a flood, folklore contains information that Manfred escapes their fate. Batman also finds a connection in the monastery linking the legend to a cathedral in Gotham which is being restored.
