Synopsis:
Adam Strange catches a ride on a zeta-beam in an Australian mall. As the beam brings him to Rann, it comes into contact with Swamp Thing who has been lost in the void between worlds. Adam arrives on Rann and is taken to Ranagar by Alanna. Eventually Swamp Thing is able to form a humanoid body made of brown cactus plants. He finds Adam's pack and recognizes that it came from Earth.
When Adam regains consciousness from his rough trip through space he finds that Sardath is negotiating with Thanagarans. Adam learns that the famine and sterility afflicting the Ranagaran people is worse than he imagined. The Thanagarans have offered assistance in exchange for Rann technology including the zeta-beam.
Before Adam can voice his suspicions of the Thanagarans, he is summoned to combat a cactus creature. The creature is Swamp Thing, because of the language barrier the people fear he is a monster. Adam goes into battle and successfully destroys Swamp Thing's cactus body. After Adam and the other people depart, Swamp Thing reforms. He then finds a statue of Adam and learns that he is from Earth.
