Synopsis:
The Flash rescues the body of Hawkgirl who is found floating unconscious in space near the Justice League satellite. He summons the rest of the team. The Atom recalls that Hawkman and Hawkgirl were supposed to take Jean Loring to Thanagar for rehabilitation. The team then divides forces.
Flash and the Atom go to the Grand Canyon where a troop of boy scouts is trying to kill themselves. Flash erects a barrier to prevent the boys from walking off the edge and falling into the canyon. Batman and Green Arrow head to Midway City to look for Hawkman. They encounter a man riding what appears to be a broomstick. They are both knocked out by this man.
Superman heads for deep space to find Hawkman's spaceship. He finds the ship, but then is attacked by Tomar-Re who thinks Superman has hostile intentions. The Guardians of the Universe dispatch Hal Jordan to set his fellow Green Lantern straight. Once Superman has recovered, they discover the near lifeless bodies of Hawkman and Jean inside.
Batman and Green Arrow return to the satellite after regaining their senses. Batman analyzes a piece of the uniform he ripped off their attacker. It is Thanagarian. The alien then attacks the satellite nearing causing it to depressurize. He then uses a device called the Ghenna Box to steal their souls. Black Canary, who was left behind to guard Hawkgirl, is spared. She the works with Flash and the Atom to defeat the Thanagarian.
During the fight, the Ghenna Box is accidentally thrown out of the satellite, but the Atom retrieves it. With the Ghenna Box in hand, the team is able to restore the souls of their paralyzed teammates and the boy scout troop.
