Synopsis:
Al Pratt is humiliated by his college classmates because of his short stature. When a hold-up man mugs him in front of his girlfriend Mary James, she dumps him.
Depressed, Al meets a former boxing trainer Joe Morgan who is homeless. Al helps out Joe in exchange for training. After a year of exercise and weight training Al becomes a pint-sized powerhouse.
Al decides to pay a visit to his former girlfriend, only to witness a gang of kidnappers abduct her. Al barges in and knocks out the entire gang. Mary never sees here rescuer, because she is blindfolded. Al telephones police and leaves a calling card using the name the Atom.
